TUTORIAL: Placemat Stationary Holder

Here goes! First tutorial. But we won't be stopping here. I have got so many more planned.

oh, and you are just going to die with how easy this is. Ready. k. go.

Needed:
Pre-fabbed placemat
sewing machines
1 yard coordinating ribbon
scrap fabric for applique, if desired
other sewing bits (pins, scissors, thread...)

(click on photos to enlarge if needed)

1. Find a placemat!

2. to figure out where to sew on the ribbon jhust put the right side of your placement on top of the wrong side of your ribbon. fold up the bottom of your placement where you will later be sewing it. Pin in one place. Now pin the ribbon where you want it. You will not be sewing the ribbon across the entire placemat.

3. Fold the placemat around the book you will be putting in there, then pin the ribbon (where my finger is pointing)

4. Sew the ribbon down

5. Add applique to the front if desired.

6. Place your items on the placemat to get an idea of where you want them. Pin where you will sew the lines to make the pockets. Remove the items and sew the pockets.

7. Insert items (envelopes, pens, stamps, notepad, loose paper, etc...), fold over, tie and adore! This is going to a dear friends daughter who will be starting college spring semester.

Katie- I love this! I love how it folds up and the letter on front is so cute. I could really use this, since I always misplace the stamps :)
